Crab- Recently we asked for help in identifying this crab fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net…
TexanJedi & Animus-Panthera both came very close with types of Ghost Crabs.
As near as I(& a dear friend who helped me with this) can tell this is a type/subspecies of Ghost crab, Ocypode quadrata also known as Sand Crabs.
They range from Rhode Island in the USA to southern Brazil. They can be white, grey, or straw colored with sandy markings and are around 2 inches wide(shell, not legs) as adults. Sand Crabs live in burrows along sandy cost lines, sometimes up to 400meters from the surf and are for the most part terrestrial, only returning to sea to moisten their gills. They are omnivorous, eating everything from insects and plant material, to clams and even other crabs.
Unfortunately recent years have seen a decline in sand crab populations in several locations.  Light pollution, destruction of burrows, disruption of breeding cycles, reduction of available food, and death by vehicles and domestic animals have all contributed to the decline of these crabs on more popular beaches.
I could find no info on a current population count.

Grass Hopper- Tomer-DA has asked if we can now help identify this grass hopper The friendly Brazilian grasshopper by Tomer-DA. If you have any idea what type of hopper this is, please send this group a note or comment bellow. If we can identify it I’ll post a new journal with info and the names of those who helped place it. =)

Need help identifying an animal? Please, send this group or Shadow-D-Keeper a note and I’ll help as best I can. ^_^

Just a quick reminder to submit all your cheetah art to DA on Dec 4th.
You can find all the info on the Cheetah Day Challenge here bcbdrums.deviantart.com/journa…
Let’s hope this project brings some awareness and helps protect this wonderful wild cat.
I will try to post another reminder closer to time.

:bulletgreen:Feature, lovely locations
Appreciating wildlife normally means appreciating the amazing and all too often fragile places they call home too.
Here are some absolutely lovely locations, filled to the brim with wild majesty.

Thank you for the feature. It is a very nice selection. And sorry for the late response. I haven't been very active lately.
